2023 Fall Tour
The Hills are Alive, With the Sound of MG’s II
(and other important assorted sports cars)
This year’s Fall Tour is a bit of an amalgamation of several previous years tours. After binning the first route we selected because it was, quite frankly, boooooring, we decided to take the route that was a member’s favorites from 2016, combine some of the roads from other routes that were popular together, reverse the direction, and take a very nice ride through the Bristol Hills and along Canandaigua Lake.
The starting point for this year will be the Avon Driving Park in Avon NY. There is a nice large parking lot we can meet in, have the drivers meeting and be on our way. Start time has yet to be determined based on Driving times, but 11:00 AM is the expected departure time. If needed I will modify it as we get closer and I’ve driven the route for the final check.
From there we will depart and travel south and east on a 50 mile excursion through the hills of central Livingston County and on to the village of Honeoye, down towards Naples and back north to Bristol Center. There we will enjoy a nice lunch and wine tasting at Brews and Brats and Arbor Hill Winery. After everyone is full and spent all of their money in Arbor Hill’s gift shop, it’s back north again along the east shore of Canandaigua Lake past some magnificent lakeside homes, into Cheshire, then back through Honeoye and points north to Honeoye Falls, where we will wrap up the day at the OK Beer Company on Main street, Honeoye Falls. (Located in the former Brongo Bowl)
At the request of Brews and Brats, the menu will not be limited, however they have requested that for all that are going, they must order their food ahead of time so they have an idea of what to prepare and how many portions. I will have a menu (included below) and a special sign up sheet at the August and September meetings for your name, your menu choice, what you would like for a side, and a generic beverage category. The October meeting will be after the cut-off date of the 15th of October so there will be no sign up sheet at the October meeting.
Example –
- Mike R, Bristol Brat, German potato salad, beer.
- Maggie R, Chicken Supremo, Cheese Pasta Salad, wine
Please sing up individually, not as a couple, even if ordering a platter to share as your sides and beverage may be different.
FYI Maggi and I had the Brat Sampler Platter with one side each and a beverage, and there was plenty to eat to share between the two of us. We did not walk away hungry.
Plan on a 2 to 3 hours stay at Brews so everyone can be served, eat, fellowship and have time to explore the gift shop, perhaps do a wine tasting, or go out and look at the cars. From there you have the option of continuing on the tour to The OK Beer Company, or you may head home from there, the choice is yours, however we believe some of the most scenic parts of the ride are on the second half of the route and hope you will stay on the tour.
The very last day I can accept signups is Sunday October 15th. OK Beer Company has no special requests, in fact they said the more we bring the merrier.
This is a rain or shine event. In case of inclement weather taking the daily driver is acceptable.
